A series of performances on the subject of the body and public space by Schmitt & Schulz

After the loss of our own performance and production space, the performance art depot in Mainz's Neustadt in 2020, we turned our focus to digital possibilities for performance on the one hand and to unusual outdoor locations on the other. This is how the project #outdoorperformative developed, in which we staged small performative choreographies in the great outdoors. These were filmed and fed into social media as Tiktok clips:
As part of the #takeheart funding programme of the Fonds Darstellende Künste, we are currently placing performative actions in public spaces and exploring the extent to which external influences (ambient noise, weather, textures, architecture) change and deform these actions into new actions.
The performers not only take in the environmental stimuli of the respective places, but also the historicity or the "stories" that these urban places tell and interpret them in an abstract way.
The performers always wear so-called skinsuits (tight-fitting full-body suits), thus retreating as individuals behind their physicality, becoming moving, faceless bodies.

Supported by the Fonds Darstellende Künste with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media within the funding program of NEUSTART KULTUR.
